Transformational Client Success Story!
Welcome to our Transformational Success Story where I personally interview one of our very successful clients, Louise. Louise is a Medical Researcher, who lives with her beautiful partner and they are about to get married. Cooking is a real passion of hers, having recently undertaken classes and having just enrolled in more. She also enjoys reading, catching up with family and friends, keeping healthy and being outdoors in nature with the fresh air.
You have had significant successes recently Louise, please you tell us about your transformation.
I have had many significant successes since starting my transformation with Dr. Grubacevic. I had anxiety, at times it has been crippling, which had permeated into every aspect of my life, I was afraid to sleep, didn’t believe in myself and my abilities, had difficulty expressing myself and felt hurt by others all the time.
Respect is very important to me and I felt my family constantly crossing my boundaries. Dr. Grubacevic taught me we can only control ourselves, our thoughts, feeling and actions, and this really helped me to dissociate from the negative feelings I have had in personal relationships. The program has seen me set personal goals for the first time in 7+ years. I had lost my way and this was wonderful to see me achieve again. However, the most significant success I have experienced is that I am quietly confident I can now handle any situation that comes my way.
I faced a very big challenge just after my final session with Dr. Grubacevic where someone tried to break into my house one night when I was home alone. This would be incredibly frightening for anyone, however I have had a deep-seeded fear of being attacked for most of my life, and so in the past, I would have frozen, and who knows what would have happened. In addition, in the aftermath I would have cried for days, unable to focus and feel paralysed by my fears and anxiety. A similar event happened to me previously and I became agoraphobic and so this was a big deal for me.
But instead, I was calm, called the police, ensured I made myself safe and adjusted my behaviours accordingly. Naturally I was scared, but I learnt this is a natural response. However my fear did not overwhelm me, it instead motivated me to take control of the situation, put myself first and remain focused on what is important. Afterwards, I also noticed a real shift in my response. Instead of feeling like a victim, I felt so very blessed to be safe and thankful for the outcome. I focused on the positives and this is entirely due to the work I did with Dr. Grubacevic. I have rarely felt so proud of myself in all my life!
What were the biggest challenges you needed to overcome to get to where you are now?
For me there were two big challenges I needed to overcome. The first was a feeling of being afraid and terrorised. This has caused me to not take chances, try new things and to ruminate and catastrophise about events, people, work etc. I felt terrorised by my family and their expectations of me, and also by events from my childhood.
The second was to be able to express myself and not hold back as I thought it would protect others and myself. Withholding how I felt was causing many health problems, including stress, constant rumination of thoughts and most severely, I have ground my teeth for over 10 years and could not stop due to anxiety and frustration. It has caused me serious dental and nerve problems and so something needed to change.
To what extent has working with Qt helped you to overcome your fears and transform your relationships and life?
I cannot stress how life-changing Qt has been for me. It forced me to confront my fears head on and deal with them. I have healthier relationships as I focus on what I can control, which is ultimately only myself. I am also able to concentrate and focus better. My mind was a constant fog and I often felt overwhelmed but I am able to plan, organise and work like never before. Most importantly though, I no longer have unchecked anxiety. This process made me confront fear and the emotions I associate with it and through the techniques Dr. Grubacevic used, I have more appropriate responses to fearful situations and I can be calm and in control of myself and put myself in a safe place when needed.
How has transforming your thinking impacted on your success?
Transforming my thinking has given me the confidence to identify and articulate what I want, and then seek it. I am more clear in my communication and now believe I deserve the things I am seeking and am not afraid to try anymore. I am in the process of going through a career change and with Dr. Grubacevic’s help, we have started a plan for my next steps moving forward which I was unable to do previously.
What has been the biggest change for you? Has the change been a lasting one?
The biggest change for me is the confidence I can solve any situation that comes my way, whether it be something scary like the break-in I mentioned, disputes with family or going for a job interview. While these were the goals that we outlined during our sessions, this confidence is now a part of all aspects of my life. An example is that my fiancé and I did a pre-wedding photo shoot and we got the photos back today. I normally dislike myself in photos yet when I saw them, I actually thought to myself, you are you and you look great.
What tips would you give to others who are seeking to overcome their fears and improve their life?
If you are looking to improve your life, I would suggest you start seeking change now. I think in order for us to overcome our fears and improve our lives, the first thing is to be kind and not judge yourself for your behaviours or thoughts in the past. Take today anew and forgive yourself. Something I learnt with Dr. Grubacevic is that no matter how much you may not want to forgive someone, you must do so to truly move forward. You next need to understand why you have these fears and address this. From there you have a clean slate to work with and you can start to reimagine yourself.
Having now made this change, what do you now enjoy most about life?
Since making these changes I most enjoy the confidence I now have in making decisions based on what is best for me. I have come to realise it is OK to do what I want and voice my opinions about things. I used to say nothing but this caused me much frustration and pain and now I feel free of the burden I always carried. I can focus on me and getting myself to where I want to be – it’s liberating!
How would you sum up your transformation?
My transformation far exceeded any expectation I had when entering this program. My dentist recommended Dr. Grubacevic to help me with my teeth grinding. However I really believe she came into my life at the right time as I had a lot of other things going on and we have been able to work through so much in such a short space of time. This transformation has freed me from years of fear and anxiety, feeling as though I don’t have a voice and doing things constantly to please my family.
I now smile freely, am happy, share the love I have in my heart to others better, am focusing on positive things and relationships and looking forward to the next chapter in my life, which when I started this transformation, felt a little bleak. I am forever grateful to Dr. Grubacevic, she is very talented at what she does and has helped me to live my best life I have ever lived.
